The Montgomery Country Tennis Association was recently looking to refresh their web presence, and was referred to us from our pals over at Bluegrass.net. Not only were they looking for a redesign for their normal pages (maintained via a CMS built specifically for them by Bluegrass.net), they were looking for a partner interested in revamping their site's architecture.

LWebG started off doing the architecture, working closely with MCTA director Dave Pullen. We quickly reached a consensus on a more streamlined, to-the-point navigation structure for the site. That momentum helped push through the new design. The CMS also gives them a bit of flexibility in changing out photos and keeping that design fresh and engaging. A little bit of javascript on the homepage touches of that more contemporary and fresh feel. The new design was extended throughout their CMS and their E-Commerce installation that is used for teams to pay their court fees and occasional t-shirt offerings.

If you view the previous design via Archive.org (as seen at right), you'll see a giant mess at the top where the navigation should be. This is due to the previous site using javascript to manage the navigation. We did away with this in favor of a pure CSS solution (unless you are using IE6 or earlier, as they do not support smooth XHTML/CSS drop down menus).

Not only did LWebG get to help with streamlining the MCTA's architecture and refreshing their site design, but we got to dive into a little bit of programming as well. Very soon, we will be updating the site with a new web application for New Players interested in joining the MCTA. This form takes web input from interested parties and stores it in an online database accessible from their existing website Administration area. That administration area  allows them up not only download the new players tables in a Microsoft Excel file, but to upload Excel files right into the MySQL database. This gives the MCTA a central place to keep tabs on their potential New Players. Whether they're in front of the computer or out at a tournament, MCTA is prepared to keep up to date with just about any interested parties.
