Content Marketing Trends for 2016

Armando Roggio with PracticalEcommerce believes that content marketing is one of the most important areas in ecommerce promotion, and has published some trends to keep an eye on for the coming year with content marketing. 1. Content Marketing Might Stand Apart Online retailers will start separating their online marketing from their other marketing activities. The reason being that online marketing requires a different skill set than traditional marketing, and in some cases it can also be a more time consuming process. 2. Machine Generated Content Could Become a Hot Topic In the coming year, most content online will probably still be created by humans. But machine generated content could become a popular solution to an annoying ecommerce problem, writing product descriptions. 3. Videos Could Be Increasingly Important Some have estimated that video content will account for nearly two-thirds of consumer Internet traffic by the end of 2016. The majority of this is through TV and movie streaming on sites like Netflix and Hulu, but don’t be surprised if online retailers continue to use video for content marketing. 4. Small and Mid-sized Stores Will Rely on Content If a business is more focused, content marketing can be made more effectively for that business. Small and mid-sized online retailers with narrow or even niche product lines may enjoy the most success from content marketing. 5. Content Saturation Will Be a Concern As the amount of content online available to consumers increases, there is the ever present fear that there is too much. That consumers might be overloaded with content and there will simply be too much for them to watch. This trend might discourage some small online retail marketers from making good content. This is unfortunate, since content saturation is probably not a real trend, while concern about it is. If you liked this, and want to read more, you can see the full article at PracticalEcommerce
