Mission critical: Web Search

After working in SEO and Web Marketing for the past 15 years, there is no question that your website's position with major search engines is the single most critical element of the website design and development process.

If you are a "war baby" like I am, you might remember the poster that read "What if they had a war and nobody came?". Pretty heavy thought there. But it certainly applies when it comes to your online footprint, to wit, "what if you built a new website and nobody saw it?"

According to the online publication CMS Wire, "As websites have evolved, what has become increasingly clear is that building a high-performance one is both an art and a science, requiring skills across a variety of design, content, user experience, and analytics disciplines..."

So the premise is that the best way to really make an online impact is to consider:

  1. Your online strategy, i.e. what is the primary message you want to convey to your prospective customers?
  2. What actions do you want them to take?
Not just anyone can answer those questions for you. You need to answer those questions yourself and then ask your web company to recommend the best ways to incorporate those strategies and answers online.
This is where common sense, your business acumen and research come together. An experienced marketing person can help you get to this point and offer the right strategy to help make it happen. LwebG has that experience as do some others, but most web companies don't.
