BOOOOM!

Our beloved buddies at the Googleplex dropped a bomb on the Web world last week as one of Google's head honchos, John Mueller, said they probably won't be updating PR publicly anymore.

Excuse me?

Page rank metric not important any more? Yep - Google is re-exerting its status as the Web's 500 pound gorilla and making life miserable for those of us who would rather eat a fresh pile of cow dung than pay for an Adwords campaign by pulling a stunt that makes those behind those cuddly little Panda and Penguin updates seem irrelevant. Google has their own internal PR and metrics they use that changes all the time, but here we're talking about the toolbar PR that we actually can see on our end. SEO managers and specialists have been relying on PR for years to judge the link power of a site, and now that metric is (nearly) officially dead. Join me in a brief moment of silence and then go here to learn more about the issue. -Gary
